There’s a reason this beach is a perennial favourite. Spend your days soaking up the sun on the pristine sands of Palm Cove Beach. Build sandcastles with the kids, splash in the swimming enclosure, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere amongst the beautiful palm trees.
There is also a small playground alongside the beach on the Esplanade.
Located so close to Williams Esplanade, your won’t need your car when staying at Sunhaven. This vibrant hub offers something for everyone.
- Dining Delights: Indulge in a culinary journey with options ranging from casual cafes to fine dining. Enjoy innovative Australian cuisine at highly acclaimed Nu Nu Restaurant or Vivos. Lucky Fish is a favourite and has gluten free options, or try traditional Greek food at El Greko . For a family-friendly pub experience with classic Aussie dishes and live music, head to Palm Cove Tavern.
- Cafes: Start your day with a delicious coffee and pastry at Palm Cove Supermarket and Cafe Vievers, where you can also grab essentials and breakfast supplies for your stay. For lunch, there are plenty of cafes on the esplanade, or you could try nearby Salty Sandwich for one of their gourmet sandwiches.
- Bars: Check out the Cabana bar or Sneaky Micks on the esplanade for a lush cocktail.
- If you are heading further along the beach, we recommend a walk down palm cove pier and come back for breakfast at Espresso Cafe, set among the Melaleuca trees.

From April the, Palm Cove Markets are held monthly and focus on sustainable local, quality handmade products.
For groceries, walk to Palms Supermarket or the small shopping centre (with Coles) at Clifton Beach is just a few minutes drive.
- Kuranda Rainforest: Experience the magic of the rainforest with a scenic train ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway or a thrilling zip-line adventure. Public transport options are readily available from Palm Cove.
- Great Barrier Reef: Embark on a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef and marvel at the vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life. Numerous tour operators offer reef trips with convenient transfers from Palm Cove.
- Port Douglas makes a great day trip from Palm Cove and is only a 45 minute drive or you may like to take a shuttle bus.
If you’d like to explore Cairns and the Northern beaches, the Route 110 bus stop is located within 100 metres from Sunhaven (around a one-minute walk), making it easy to explore Palm Cove and the surrounding beaches or travel to Cairns without hiring a car. (View live timetable here.)

Cast a line from Palm Cove Jetty

Palm Cove Jetty is more than a beautiful place for a morning walk or sunset view. It remains a favourite fishing spot for locals, with mackerel, grunter, whiting and other tropical species caught from its waters.

Sunhaven does not provide fishing equipment, but guests can hire pre-rigged adult and children’s rods, bait and complete fishing packs locally through Pedro’s Fishing Hire.

Equipment can be collected in Palm Cove or delivered directly to Sunhaven. Two foldable stools are available at Sunhaven for guests to take along (located in the garage).
